We decided to take a week off from work and relax in Mackinaw City and Island after most of the tourists left. It was just us and the retirees. After one afternoon in Mackinaw City we realized that almost every store was the same, all the local restaurants served the same home-cooking food and that we like Mooney's Ice Cream... oh, and that there was nothing to do. We tried to go to Thunder Falls water park, only to discover that they close on September 8th... even though it was 80 degrees outside. Guess that's Michigan for you. We spent a day on Mackinaw Island, rented bikes and drove around. That was the best day and I'd do it again every summer. We came home feeling relaxed and refreshed.
