This past week is one of those weeks that you never think you'll experience... it always happens to someone else. Dana started getting pain in his lower abdomen on Monday. By Wednesday he was at the doctor, who sent him to get an ultra sound. After that appointment on Thursday, that doctor sent him to a Urologist on Friday. By 3pm on Friday afternoon we were told Dana has cancer. He was scheduled for surgery on Saturday morning to have it removed.
The surgery went well. No complications. We had some of our family and closest friends to support us at the hospital. We definitely felt the support of everyone praying for us... it's the only thing that has gotten us through the past couple of days.
Now we wait to get a call from the Urologist to tell how what needs to happen next. The pathology report will tell us more about the cancer. The doctor will schedule Dana for a CAT scan within the next week, which will indicate if the cancer has spread to other lymph nodes in the body. If that is the case, he will then have to have chemo.
So, for now we wait and pray.
